The Virtual Choir project

Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir is a remarkable project. More than a hundred individuals from different countries recorded themselves singing separate parts of a piece of choral music – these videos were then mixed together to create a ‘virtual choir’. This video is incredibly moving and on a lot of levels.

The Latin lyrics being sung are:

LUX AURUMQUE

Latin Translation ©2001 by Charles Anthony Silvestri

(English poem by Edward Esch)

LUX,                                              Light,

CALIDA GRAVISQUE                warm and heavy

PURA VELUT AURUM               as pure gold,

ET CANUNT ANGELI                  and the angels sing softly

MOLLITER MODO NATUM.       to the newborn babe.

This music could be used in meditation, in an illustration about diversity or whatever other message you get from it! It moves me every time I watch it!
